VaxiPred

VaxiPred, an innovative immuno-informatics tool enables computer aided vaccine design. This research tool contains components, which synergistically and seamlessly combines the best of research in immunology and immuno-informatics, the offshoot of information technology. VaxiPred, the user-friendly expansive web-enabled vaccinology research tool comes with the convenience of anytime, anywhere accessibility. This tool constitutes of components that encompass the rich knowledge, expertise and innovation both from the percepts of immunology and immuno-informatics. The immunological component of innovation involves working on antigens of the disease causing pathogen rather than the pathogen dead or alive. The component of innovation in immuno-informatics involves web enablement of the user-friendly features of computer.The two prime components in VaxiPred are:

1) Sophisticated knowledge bases

2) Sophisticated abilities to simulate different laboratory conditions and different vaccinology experiments on a computer.

These databases are based on sound technical percepts and are primarily the result of research at India ’s premier CSIR laboratory, IMTECH. The abilities to simulate laboratory environment are derived from two principle components:

A) Sophistications of mathematical models for different vaccinology experiments

     and different laboratory environments.

B) Computer software which act as the front end for the researcher to experiment, interact and interpret the various input

     parameters, laboratory environments and the results of these experiments, all of which get represented in terms of

     numerals, graphs and other typical computer based inputs/outputs.

It poses no demand on porting the basic infrastructure or its accessories as the researcher moves across the globe. It finds applications across the entire spread of the vaccinology community and is useful to students, advanced researchers and policy makers alike. This product, the state-of-the-art in vaccinology and IT solutions, offers a professional vaccinologist an ideal environment for not only conducting and repeating the experiments, but also presents a platform for innovations in vaccinology.
